Rumors of returning the show have been floating over the previous few years, particularly with the cast reunion for an All That episode in July 2020. Together for a unique live-streamed event to debut the music video for a revamped version of the Zoey 101 theme song "Follow Me," the complete cast—plus some pretty significant influencers—even team-rolled. October 2020 saw Jamie and Chantel Jeffries release their remixed version of the venerable tune.
"Zoey was the good at everything girl and the problem solution. But we have to give her some nuance regarding where her character would be now, Jamie told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2020. She and Chase would most certainly have some sort of twisted love narrative. They would not have have simply left PCA and gotten married. Possibly Zoey would be working in fashion in some manner.

Victoria Justice announced that Lola Martinez, her Zoey 101 character, will not be returning for the forthcoming remake.
"The timing of everything didn't work out, but I've been in touch with Jamie and the entire cast; they could not be more understanding and more supportive," Justice said to Variety. "I would want to be with them ultimately. I enjoyed presenting that show. Making that was so much joy; it was such a turning point in my life. I absolutely have so much love for them; we had such a wonderful time and that cast is really terrific.
