Most funiest things people could ask me as an american citizen
Is it dangerous/will I get shot? - no, it's no more dangerous than any other country, and much safer than many. Do a little research and stay out of bad neighborhoods late at night.
How easy is it to do a road trip? I want to see LA and New York. - distances in the USA are huge! Unless you're on the east coast, travel between major cities is easier by air. Road travel is cheap and easy, with great things to see along the way with a little googling, gas is much cheaper than most people expect and the roads are pretty good, but unless you have a couple of weeks, try to fly.
Are Americans mean? Absolutely not! We're some of the friendliest people around. We're curious, outgoing and always willing to help answer questions. Except New York City -there you have to earn it ;). Please strike up a conversation!
Can I take the train? Yes, in certain places, but the train is almost as expensive as air travel and much slower. It's not like trains in Europe at all!
What about the food? - In major cities you can find all kinds of cuisine. The portions are huge and we tip our waiters and waitresses 18 to 20% of the total bill. Please do, they work mostly for tips.
Will my phone work? - yes, so long as you have international roaming set up. But it might be expensive. Check with your carrier.
What cities/sights would you recommend? - Washington DC and New York, along with Disney in Orlando Florida, the Grand Canyon, LA, and Las Vegas out west, Nashville is great if you love music. Beware, the cities are expensive and car parking in big cities is terribly expensive!
You are not required to give your passport to your hotels. Pickpockets are not that common. The Smithsonian Museums in DC are free.
Brunch in Hollywood may give you a chance of seeing moviestars if you find a up and coming new restaurant.
Most police officers are extremely friendly and helpful, so long as you don't interrupt when they are actively performing a law enforcement function.
Generally we prefer some personal space. Not as much as some Europeans, but more than Asians.
