FIT's undergraduate programs follow a "2+2" format, which means your education is divided into two years in an associate's degree program plus two years in a bachelor's degree program. And on the way to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Bachelor of Science (BS), you will also earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
All students must choose a major during the admissions process. So explore our programs and find the specialization that suits you. Even if you want to get a bachelor's degree, you must first get an AAS. Therefore, when applying, select an associated program first. It's a good idea to look at both associate and undergraduate programs that interest you and see which AAS programs can lead directly to specific BFA and BS programs.
That's how it works
It usually takes two years to get an AAS. In some FIT programs, students with sufficient credits from another university can earn their AAS in one year.
Admission to a bachelor's degree program requires certain study requirements and a minimum cumulative grade point average; BFA programs also need a folder. Most students apply for a Bachelor's program that is identical or closely related to their partner. If you choose a completely different field of study, you may need additional courses to apply for the bachelor's degree.
Student Advisors are there to ensure that you meet all of your study requirements to make your transition from an AAS to a BFA or BS student as smooth as possible.
