When I am driving I don’t listen to the radio, text or talk on my phone or watch videos either. The days of leisurely cruising down the open road are gone, unless you are driving is some huge Western or Midwestern state where there are hundreds of miles of relatively clear highways. In most places I’ve been, highways have turned into 4 lane and 8 lane demolition derbies where it seems that everyone is raging mad and never learned how to drive. Add to that those with radios or music playing so loud they cannot hear the traffic around them, or playing with their phones or infotainment systems which only exacerbates the situation.

I always get the “Oh, I can multitask, so it’s no distraction to me”, reply from people. Alright, the moron in front of you just slammed on the brakes because he just realized he missed his exit, the semi tractor behind you has all 18 wheels locked up headed for the back of your car and the guy in the lane next to you just decided to swerve to miss the fool in front of both of you. Let your multitasking begin, if you even noticed the horns blasting and the sound of screeching tires all around you. I doubt your GPS is going to inform you, and a text warning is highly unlikely, so you just keep blasting your tunes and fiddling with your toys and do not worry, the coroner is less than a half hour away.
