She isn?t. It?s hard to think of someone with her level of name recognition who is so seldom talked about. She?s simply irrelevant. Among conservative voices, she?s damaged goods as many blame her for the failure of John McCain?s Presidential campaign, and there are much more powerful and relevant conservative figures for liberals to address.
Other have pointed out that she is in the news because of her lawsuit against the NYT for libel. Her suit is based upon the idea that the NYT should be libel for statements made in its opinion column made by James Bennet who acted with malice against her. On the face of it, it seems unlikely she?ll prevail as the column reference her only briefly, and a correction was issued within 12 hours. To be found guilty of libel, Palin will have to demonstrate that she suffered harm as the result of this column.
