NewsGPT, the world's first AI-powered news site, challenged the same journalistic codes of conduct. News channels have been plagued by bias and subjective reporting for too long, said Alan Levy, CEO of NewsGPT, of his motivation to launch a fully AI-powered news channel.

Unlike other news channels, the news of this portal is not influenced by advertisers, political affiliations or personal opinions, according to a press release. While this is a noble thought for Levy, the approach has the potential to be disastrous.

NewsGPT didn't reveal much more than the fact that they use a combination of AI programs. However, as the name suggests, Levy's company might use a version of OpenAI's GPT Large Language Models (LLMs). ChatGPT, the popular OpenAI chatbot, is based on the GPT3.5 architecture.

Various AI experts have repeatedly pointed out that today's LLMs are hallucinatory in nature. As ChatGPT caught the world's attention, Sam Atlman, one of OpenAI's co-founders, pointed out that trusting it with something important now would be a mistake. "It's a taste of progress and we still have work to do in terms of robustness and veracity."

Yann LeCun, senior AI scientist at Meta, addressed the same question. According to him, these models ignore the world around them. "They have no idea of physical reality. They have no context and they can't find their answers," he said at the World Festival of Artificial Intelligence in Cannes.
