This has now become a common question as once again Israel and Hamas is in the news. For those who don't know, Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by most countries. The reason for war comes from historical conflicts over land.
The new incident took place on the morning of 7th October 2023; the air raid sirens began blaring. Israeli Defense Forces estimate that thousands of rockets were fired. Yet, the group Hamas claims that 5,000 rockets were fired. Several people were killed and injured in Israel because of these attacks.

They also used speedboats for attacking people. Several Israeli soldiers held hostages as well. Also, many are being held as hostages. Due to this entire situation, Israel has declared a state of war in response.

Let's take a look at the history of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Both places are located in the Middle East. The conflict started 100 years ago and it is still continuing. One of the biggest myths about the who is in the right palestine or israel conflict is that it is all about religious hatred. It may be one of the reasons, but it is about two groups of people who claim the same land.
It is about the 1900s when the Ottomans ruled Israel and Palestine. It was the time when people of different religions( Muslims, Christians, and Jews) all were living together. After some time more people from this region began to identify as Palestinians. According to them, they are not Arabs, and they believe they have their own identity.
Let me inform you, at that time more Jewish people in Europe were supporting a movement. This moment was known as Zionism. According to them, Jewish is not just a religion; but a nationality. And they want to change their location to the Middle East. This is because they believed it to be their native country.
The Jewish people started moving to a region in the Middle East. After World War I, the British named this region as the British Mandate for Palestine.

When we talk about starting, the British govt. was okay to allow Jewish people to move there, but this caused problems later. Some of the local Arab people were worried about this. Tensions rose, and both Jewish and Arab groups sometimes used violence.
By observing the situation, the British decided to make a decision. They decided to not take many Jewish people into Palestine. They limited the number of Jews who could enter the region. But, the situation worsened during the Holocaust. Many Jewish people in Europe were persecuted and killed. Due to this Jewish people tried to escape to Palestine. This was the only safest option for them and there was no doubt. The situation seems complicated and disturbing when we think of it today.
The violence didn’t stop and then in 1947, the UN approved a plan to divide British Palestine into two separate states. The one for Jews (who is in the right israel or palestine) and one for Arabs (Palestine). The Jews were happy with this plan and accepted it. Yet, many Arabs saw this as European colonialism, taking their land. They were against this plan and declared war on Israel.
When Israel won the war, it moved past the borders that the UN had set. Taking advantage of it, they took some of Jerusalem and land meant for Palestine. Due to this cruel move, many Palestinian people left their homes, and they became refugees.
Israel won the 1st war and took control over many regions. Nothing to be happy about, as many innocent lives are at a cost due to these wars. Yet, it didn’t get control over Gaza. At that time, Gaza was under Egypt's control. Israel didn’t stop there; it fought another war with its neighboring countries. After that, they became owners of some more land, which included -the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem. As some time passed by, other Arab countries also made peace with Israel.
Time went on; the conflict became more about Israel and the Palestinians. So, the motive of The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) was to create a Palestinian state. But, some people who don’t want peace are against the idea. All this led to the beginning of israel vs hamas, a group formed by Palestinians. As the anger within them kept on building, they used violence. In the 1990s, leaders from both Israel and the Palestinians signed an agreement called the Oslo Accords. This agreement was about keeping peace and an independent Palestine.
And, of course, there are always some people who don’t like peace, so they use violence to try to stop it. It might be very shocking, but during that time, the PM of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, was even assassinated. You can imagine how the problem is not solved but keeps on growing. The final peace deal continued for years, all this moved very slowly. Now comes the year 2000, a meeting at Camp David didn't lead to an agreement, and this made Palestinians more upset. So, they began a violent uprising with protests and fighting.
Things were complicated, but now the situation is becoming worse. The wars between them are taking the lives of many innocent humans. Israel built walls and checkpoints to separate from the Palestinians. They focused on controlling the situation, but not on finding a permanent solution.
Today, we all are aware of the conflicts in the region. No doubt that life is tough for the Palestinians, with many living under Israeli control. There isn't a clear way to make peace, but it is not impossible to make peace. We as normal human beings also think that these things right now can't continue for much longer.
