When I heard that Selena Gomez was launching a tinted moisturizer (with SPF 20), I couldn't wait to try it. Not only do I love and appreciate the spirit of your Rare Beauty brand with its positive affirmations and really nice liquid blush, but I also generally prefer tinted moisturizers, like a skin tone, over foundation. When can I benefit from sunscreen? Even better.

Gomez shared some lab samples with our beauty team at Refinery29, and we tested them before the rest of the internet, so you can decide if you want to order them.

According to Gómez it is a “simple” make-up product. "I really wanted to create a product that would provide just enough coverage for those days when you want something that's easy to apply but still looks great," she told me in a recent email interview. To find out exactly what Gomez and four R29 editors think of this $29 tinted moisturizer (which "flexible" shade we use and how we add it to our existing routines), she keeps scrolling and reading the reviews.

Selena Gomez, founder of Rare Beauty, uses 26W (medium light)

"Before applying any product to my face, I always use a moisturizer, sunscreen, and then foundation Always An Optimist Illuminate when I want a little more radiance. Then apply the tinted moisturizer with my fingers or a brush and I'm done in two minutes. When I'm not taking pictures, I keep it simple and add Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick (I use Happy Sol) on the highlights of the face, followed by a bit of Soft Pinch Liquid Blush on the cheeks and finishing with a glossy lip balm."

Beauty Director Sara Tan uses the 26W shade (medium light).

"I'm a big fan of tinted moisturizers, but I find they are often difficult to apply. The opacity can be too much or too little and I can't even get started." Color combination. No wonder Rare Beauty and Selena pulled it off! I love how this tinted moisturizer builds up while being light and comfortable on my skin. The 26W shade suited my skin tone perfectly and blended perfectly. It will definitely be my first choice when I'm feeling lazy, running errands, or just want my skin to look like my skin, only better."

Beauty Editor Megan Decker use eyeshadow 28C (Medium Light)

"It's a beautiful light tinted sunscreen." I love that it comes in droppers and the texture is lovely; it's lighter than a cream or a opaque sunscreen, but not liquid like a serum or an oil, I simply spread it on my face with my fingertips, it's transparent and this is good for me because it doesn't hide the freckles, it only evens out the redness and reduces the shine of the area. it builds up so if I need more I can add a few more drops and get more coverage. The finish is satiny but with the moisturizer underneath the skin still has a beautiful natural glow.A little highlighter and concealer underneath eyes and a little on the eyebrows, I'm fine."

Karina Hoshikawa, Beauty + Wellness Writer, wears shade 30N (medium)

for its light touch and hydrating properties. Regardless of my skin makeup type, I tend to fall somewhere in the middle in terms of coverage, as I prefer a natural-looking finish. I have dark skin, but maybe the tone here was too golden for me. The next shade was too pink, but I managed it! If I ever had fair skin I would definitely use this again, but since the coverage is so sheer I would probably opt for a product with more coverage when I want to hide a rash. The finish of this product was satin matte, so I ended up mixing a little of my moisturizer into the Rare Beauty product for a more natural, dewy finish. It's optional, but I love the way it was photographed and will definitely make it my go-to technique as the summer months approach. »

Amanda Mitchell, Senior Beauty Editor, uses shade 46C (medium deep)

"I really like it. Sometimes I find moisturizers colored sticky, gross and heavy, but it was easy and simple. In fact, I dived into this a bit just to see if it gets harder with time, but no! Once again, Rare nailed it. It's an immediate need. those days when you don't want to wear full makeup but still want to look fresh and fresh."
