Kim Kardashian has long been one of the biggest names on the Met Gala red carpet, but she, along with her many sisters, may not appear at the 2023 Met Gala. According to a report, the Kardashian family was not invited to the This year's Met Gala.
It would be the first time in a decade that Kardashian hasn't attended the Met Gala red carpet. Kim Kardashian became the first Kardashian to perform at the Met Gala, joining then-husband Kanye West while pregnant with North West, their first child.
However, Page Six, which originally reported the news, says a source close to the Kardashians claims otherwise, while contradicting the report.
A tribute to the late creative director of Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld, the 2023 Met Gala will be co-hosted by a host of celebrities, including Dua Lipa, as well as Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Met curator Andrew Bolton Museum . Costume Center (named after Anna Wintour).
Wintour has long had a controversial relationship with the Kardashians. For example, the Kardashian family has long been banned even from appearing in Vogue.
However, shortly after their Met Gala debut, Kim and Kanye finally graced the cover of Vogue's April 2014 issue.
"Kim and Kanye were part of the conversation that day," Wintour said at the time, according to Amy Odell's unofficial biography.
"If Vogue hadn't acknowledged this, it would have been a huge misstep. But at the same time, I knew it was going to be very, very controversial and a lot of our readers and audiences would be horrified."
That was before the Kardashians became so ingrained in American pop culture that they're now a staple of nearly every major story.
Today, the Kardashians are everywhere and part of everything, for better or for worse. Not to mention, Kim Kardashian's (and related) Met Gala outfits made headlines on fashion's big night.
For their part, Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian did not attend the Met Gala for the first time until 2022, which brought the entire Kardashian clan together for the first time.
