Although they won't receive any style points for their triumph on "Thursday Night Football," the Dallas Cowboys will accept the sloppy victory that ended a two-game losing run.
In a game filled with penalty flags at MetLife Stadium, where both teams combined for 15 penalties (11 by the Cowboys), the Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 20–15.
Dallas led 14-6 in the second quarter after to first-half touchdowns by Rico Dowdle and CeeDee Lamb; the Giants were unable to overcome the significant deficit. The Giants had to settle for five field goals from kicker Greg Joseph because their offense was unable to get into the end zone. That would not hold up against a formidable Cowboys offense.
Dak Prescott of the Cowboys completed 22 of 27 passes for 221 yards and two scores during the victory. Lamb ended up with 98 yards and the touchdown on seven grabs. Now, Prescott has defeated the Giants in 13 straight starts.
The Giants offense was unable to produce many high-scoring plays. Daniel Jones, the quarterback, completed 29 passes for 281 yards in passing. Malik Nabers, a rookie wide receiver, caught 12 passes for 115 yards before being carted to the locker room with a concussion late in the contest. Devin Singletary, the running back, struggled against the Cowboys defense, who gave up 274 yards of rushing a week prior (14 carries, 24 yards).
The Giants dropped to 1-3 and are now alone in last place in the NFC East, while the Cowboys improved to 2-2 with the victory.
The injuries to DeMarcus Lawrence and defensive standout Micah Parsons, who was taken off the field late in the game, are concerning for the Cowboys going forward.
