I can confidently report that the BMW's engine is significantly more powerful, and its suspension is notably superior, resulting in a towing experience where it felt as though there was nothing being towed at all.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the BMW's consumption is comparable to that of the Jeep. The EPA rates the Jeep at 21-26 mpg and the BMW at 19-26 mpg. Personally, both vehicles achieve mid-twenties in my experience, although I have reached as high as 34.8 mpg in the Jeep.
