Engage in the LOIn our NomadHer group, one of the most frequently asked topics is "Where is the safest country to go for my first solo trip?" Answering this question is not simple. However, there are many female solo travelers in the NomadHer community who are happy to share their experiences and advice. We are all aware of how challenging it can be to embark on one's first solo journey. Because of this, we encourage our NomadHers to suggest a safe nation for female travelers based on their personal experiences. and these are the responses they provided.

Korea

"In South Korea, I just leave my laptop on the table when I need to use the restroom in a cafe, not worrying about who might grab it. There is a mentality among the people here that asks why others take what is not theirs. Here, this idea feels so natural. I didn't have to wear a tiny bag inside my jacket or worry about someone stealing my cellphone while I was in any of the Korean cities I visited.

"I felt protected the entire time I was in South Korea on my first solo trip. Every location on the road was orderly. It was my first solo trip. I was constantly relieved to be here.

Germany

“Germany is the place I have felt the most comfortable walking and doing stuff on my own. There was a great deal of respect in the society, and I was never mistreated or taken advantage of.

"I can attest that throughout the over 11 years that I have lived in Germany, particularly in Berlin, I have never felt frightened or intimidated. Individuals are open-minded, respectful of others' personal space, and they mind their own business.

Japan

"South Korea and Japan are among the safest places to travel alone because there are a lot of street lights and convenience stores that are open around-the-clock. You also feel comfortable going alone at night and I really like that there are less chances of having your phone or camera stolen, which is very important to me."

Iceland

That is Iceland for me. For a single woman, it is quite safe. When you take a nighttime stroll down a street or carry valuables, you don't feel uneasy. People's minds are open and accustomed to a high degree of gender equality, which is truly valuable. In addition, cities are compact, making it difficult to feel lost among billions of people, and Reykjavik is a very easy city.

Estonia

”I would like to add Estonia, I spent 10 days in this country alone, I was a bit scared before visiting the city because many people asked me “Isn’t it unsafe for a lonely woman?” That's a resounding no.

Individuals keep to themselves, yet if you seek for assistance, they will do their utmost to assist you. However, they may appear chilly and aloof at first glance. You have many distinct cultures in Estonia that are nicely mingled together. I was extremely astonished by the warmth of shop and restaurant staff that I spoke with. This is rather different from

France

I was told by a man that the low crime rate in the country meant that there weren't many police officers. I was harassed only by ignorant tourists, not by locals, who thought I was Estonian and asked me questions since they were looking for a female in Estonia during their vacation. I would merely caution you against going on these "Very Bad Trips" to Eastern European countries with Western visitors, as most of them originate from that region. Other than that, though, I feel extremely comfortable.

Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Austria

"I can state that these are countries where I felt completely comfortable and at ease during my five-month trip through Holland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and Germany, where I was completely alone during off-work hours. There's an app that can also assist you with less safe places; all you have to do is enter the city and it will tell you where the less safe regions are during specific hours of the day or night. I think this app has already been mentioned here.
