Celebrities don't get much more famous than Kim Kardashian. We don't know exactly how she rose to fame, but it's hard to spend more than five minutes breathing in the English-speaking world without bumping into Kim or one of the other Kardashians. We're not as upset about his fame as most, largely because such things are silly, but we're certainly interested in the family's Armenian heritage. So the question must be asked; How Armenian is Kim Kardashian?

KK was born in Los Angeles in 1980 to a third-generation Armenian-American father and a mother who might have been of European descent. Robert Kardashian was the father, a man best known for representing OJ Simpson in the former NFL man's murder trial in 1995. Robert was also born in Los Angeles, but his ties to the family heritage are a bit closer than Kim's.

The story begins in Karakale, a city in northeastern Turkey that is now part of Kars province but was an Armenian city in the early 20th century. Thus, Kardashian's connection to Armenia stems from Kim's great-great-grandparents, a connection that many would consider tenuous at best. But the Kardashians have always talked about this Armenian heritage no more than Kim or Heghine (her Armenian Orthodox Christian name). He frequently lobbied the US government for greater recognition of the Armenian Genocide and visited the country on several occasions.

All of his children were baptized into the Armenian Church; To the north in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem, while the other three were baptized at Echmiadzin Cathedral in Vagharshapat, the oldest cathedral in the world, in case you were curious.
