The OASDI Program: Is OASDI The Same As Social Security?

Old age, survivors and disability insurance (VHV), based on Social Security principles, provides monthly benefits designed to partially compensate for loss of income due to retirement, disability or death. Employees pay for the plan using payroll taxes collected under federal insurance and self-employment contribution laws. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) estimates that the system covers approximately 96 percent of all jobs.
