So, today, I'd like to share some true experiences with you that you should consider about before giving up.

My objective in sharing them is that they would urge you not to give up, but to persist in the face of the inevitable process of gaining any great success.

1. Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg was turned down three times when he applied to the USC School of Theater, Film, and Television.

He ended up attending Long Beach State. After directing and producing blockbuster triumphs like Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Jurassic Park, The Color Purple, Saving Private Ryan, and Lincoln, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the USC Film Institute and provides a million dollars to the institution each year.

2. General Douglas MacArthur
Another renowned World War II commander, commander Douglas MacArthur, was rejected by his favored institution, and he may never have acquired power and fame if he had not persisted. When he applied to West Point, he was turned down twice. He tried again, was accepted, and marched into history.

Twenty-seven publishers rejected Dr. Seuss's first children's book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street. The twenty-eighth publisher, Vanguard Press, sold six million copies of the book. And all of his children's books sold over 100 million copies.

4) Richard Hooker
Richard Hooker spent seven years writing his satirical military novel, M*A*S*H, only to have it rejected by twenty-one publishers before Morrow opted to publish it. It rapidly became a bestseller, producing a blockbuster film and a phenomenally popular television series.

5) Peter J. Daniels
Mrs. Phillips, Peter J. Daniels' fourth-grade teacher, constantly telling him, "Peter J. Daniel, you're no good, you're a bad apple, and you're never going to amount to anything." Peter was entirely illiterate until he was 26. A pal stayed up with him all night, reading him Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich.
