Park Chaeyoung, often known by her English name Roseanne Park (born February 11, 1997 in Auckland, New Zealand), or Rosé, is the lead singer and dancer for the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK.

Rosé also has a strong independent career, having amassed a big fan base as a solo artist. She is most recognized as a soloist for her particular vocal timbre, which drew widespread acclaim after her debut. As a solo artist, she collaborated with labelmate G-Dragon on his 2012 single "Without You," which reached number 10 on the Gaon Music Chart.

Life and Career

1997-2011: Early Life and Family

Rosé's Korean name is Park Chaeyoung, whereas her English name is Roseanne Park. Her family comprises of her mother, a businesswoman; her father, a lawyer; and her sister, Alice Park, who is four years her senior and also a lawyer. She was born in Auckland, New Zealand. She grew in Melbourne, Australia. Rosé attended the Canterbury Girls' Secondary College in Melbourne. Rosé has a love for singing since she was a youngster and was a member of her church choir.

2012-2016: Become a trainee at YG.
Rosé's father learned in 2012 that YG Entertainment will be conducting auditions in Sydney, Australia. He persuaded her to take part in it. Rosé's mother initially disagreed, but Rosé and her father were eventually able to persuade her. She arrived in Sydney swiftly, having traveled from Melbourne. Rosé won the tryouts, beating out 700 other candidates, and was hired as a trainee with YG Entertainment the same day. After four years of training, YG cast her as BLACKPINK's primary singer and lead dancer. She was the band's final member to be unveiled.

Rosé appeared on G-Dragon's One of a Kind EP with the tune "Without You" less than 6 months after joining YG.

2016–present: As a part of BLACKPINK, solo debut
Rosé made her debut with BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment on August 8, 2016. On October 17, 2018, YG revealed that Rosé will be the next member to make her solo debut, after Jennie. He also said on February 8, 2019, that her solo single will be released after BLACKPINK's return with Kill This Love.

On December 30, 2020, OSEN announced that Rosé would shoot the music video for her solo debut in mid-January 2021.

On January 25, 2021, it was announced that Rosé will play a song from her solo album for the first time at BLACKPINK's forthcoming concert BLACKPINK: The Show. The next day, BLACKPINK's YouTube account featured a coming soon video. YG subsequently revealed that the song shown in the video is a B-side tune. Rosé played the song from the coming soon teaser during the performance. Following her live performance, the song's title was revealed to be "Gone". The song has 100% English lyrics and is about a woman's shattered heart. YG mentioned that the album timetable for Rose's formal debut would be revealed at a later date.

On February 10, 2021, YG Entertainment revealed that Rosé will make her solo debut in March. It was also claimed that they had completed shooting the music video for Rosé's title song from her first solo album. They were now assuring its completion owing to the high manufacturing charge. A few hours later, it was announced that further information concerning timetables will be shared by an official notification at a later time.

On March 2, 2021, two teaser posters for Rosé's solo debut were released on BLACKPINK's social media pages. She made her solo debut on March 12, 2021, with a single album.

On March 8, 2021, BLACKPINK's social media accounts released the M/V teaser for "On The Ground". The tracklist was published on March 9th. On March 10th, a second teaser for "On The Ground" was revealed.

On March 12, 2021, an online news conference was conducted at 12 p.m. KST. A few hours later, at 1 p.m. KST, Vlive had a return live. She promoted -R-'s debut at both events. On March 13th, BLACKPINK's social media accounts posted the'making film for the song video' teaser.

Rosé began marketing her music performances on March 14, 2021, starting with Inkigayo. It was her first time doing solo choreography, with the title track's choreography being created by renowned choreographers Kiel Tutin and Kyle Hanagami. In the first week, she performed "On The Ground" and "Gone". On March 16th, she appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon". She has also made appearances on music programs like M Countdown, Music Core, and Inkigayo.

In an online fan meetup, Rosé announced that the music video for Gone would be released soon.

Rosé had a fan signing session on March 20th and 21st. The fan sign on March 20 was for Koreans, while the one on March 21 was for foreigners. She also cooperated with Ktown4u and held a fan signing session on March 28th. 

Rosé appeared on Nippon TV's Sukkiri 'WE News' on March 30 at 10 a.m. KST. She gave an exclusive performance and message throughout the program.

Artistry

Rosé's voice has been recognized in the K-Pop industry for its unique vocal timbre. Rosé's vocal color was much praised after her debut with Blackpink. According to Filipina critic Almira Blancada, writing for ABS-CBN, "it's difficult to find an idol [singer] who stands out from the rest" owing to their "common singing style," yet "you would know it's Rosé singing in a heartbeat." South Korean artist Gummy, whom Rosé described as a musical role model. Rosé has also been recognized for her broad vocal range. Rosé, a musician, credits American singer Tori Kelly for inspiring her musical approach.
